Rifter fleet

Sunday evening Redemption Roads (Roams) group organized a nice Rifter fleet, based on Star Wars theme, that started from Berta. The Fw was Onslaughtor, he commanded a Rifter-Wolf-Jaguar fleet of around 25-30 pilos through Null sec and back in low.

We met many bomber that tried to drop bombs on us (first time for me to see bombs on overview), we avoided bombs just jumping in, before they exploded.

The best fight we had was against a smartbombing Rokh. I managed to get out of smartbombs range just in time, with the structure at 30% after the good call of the Fc that suggested to orbit him at 10km. In that fight we didn't loose any Rifter.

Fc old friend Onslaughtor was doing a great job in the 3 hours fleet. We had some nice kills and my little poor Rifter is still alive. Here some pics of the night.

Focus fire, a vital pratice in fleet

Yersteday night we went out in a small fleet of three pilots: a 270 dps Incursus, a Rifter and another standard Incursus, very tanky. We moved in a Fw area and in few minutes we killed two T1 ships, a Tristan and an Incursus, both fitted for PvP. In Agoze we spotted a Comet in a novice outpost and an Incursus in a small. To point the Navy Comet we first sent the tanky Incursus. Our Incursus engaged the target inside the plex when we were already in warp to join the fight. At the novice outpost gate we saw two Incursus landing, just after us. The Fc was calling: "activate the gate, ignore the two Incursus. Primary is the Comet". Rifter and the "dps" Incursus killed the Comet in few seconds, then the Fc was calling: "Anemophis I Incursus is primary", "Anemophis I Incursus is primary".

Our tanky Incursus went down. We still were two against two and unfortunatly the rifter pilot was not following the FC call. He was shooting the wrong Incursus. An Incurus fitted with 2 reps can tank a lot, so with a split fire, they both were managing to tank easly. They focused on our rifter, that went down after few seconds. The Fc on the dps Incursus managed to disengage after a quick reaction and a lot of luck. Afterward, analyzing the fight, it was clear that we could have a good chance to kill both the Incursus, of course if we were focusing fire.

The art of war in Eve, Sun Tzu

Pilots, capsulers, explorers. New Eden is in the future but to became a better pilot we need to look at the past. Sun Tzu was a chinese military general, a strategist and philosopher. Sun Tzu's principles can be perfectly applied in Eve PvP.  We have learned from that and we will go on growing from our mistakes. Fly with us, join Zeura!

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

When a fight ended in flames

We are still enjoying quite a lot our frigate-destroyer fleets, first because is fun and then because our new pilots can make a lot of experience in that. It's a simple doctrine: we try to kill as much as we can, focusing even on solo cruisers that are ratting or hanging around. We fight in low sec, inside plexes and at asteroid belts. Our main advantage is speed and agility and moving as a single pilot we can still add a good amount of dps. If things go wrong, we can still try to disengage.

Often we use a scout/tackler that will make the move first. The scout tackler is even the one that is more in danger because he has to tank enemies until the fleet will join the fight. Is all a matter of timing. The best thing that can happen is to survive with little hull left, this usually lead in a scream of joy for the scout-tackler and all the fleet. Then during the loot of the enemies cargo, usually all pilots comment and admire the flames emerged by the damaged, but still alive, scout ship.

After a fight.. scout-tackler Incursus (pilot Mark Yanning). Ship in flames. Some modules were overheated... :)
